I had drinks with a friend the other night who is working with Engage, a bipartisan nonprofit helping female politicians work with each other. Agree to disagree. Respect each other’s views. Radicalism dies! Rachel Pearson, the founder, says, “Bipartisanship is the necessity of the new century. Instead of doubling down in anger, we must demand our elected leaders double down in cooperation.”
The country and the world are so divided. Did the media create this anger where nobody wants to listen to or understand the other side? Whatever it is, it’s not very pretty. Call me a pessimist, but I don’t see anything on the horizon that will change.
Most women’s egos are in check; they care about the communities and want to get shit done. There are countless stories of women in our history that have built businesses but couldn’t get funding, patents, credit, or buy a home, but they persevered by finding ways to succeed with whoever was around the table.
When my friend told me about this organization, it came to me. Of course, the women will fix it. They always do.
