Wolverine Gets an Armored Redesign in A Cosplay So Good, It’s Basically Concept Art

Marvel’s Wolverine is an iconic member of the X-Men who’s the best at what he does, and even though what he does isn’t very nice, he always makes sure that his actions protect those he cares about most. Wearing an instantly recognizable yellow and blue costume that’s been his go-to outfit for decades, a new set of cosplay photos sees Wolverine get a lightly armored version of this iconic design that pays homage to his recent Deadpool & Wolverine MCU look!

A redesign shared by Mat (@visionarts) via Instagram, this cosplay talent has slipped into the spandex of not only some of the most popular DC Comics characters but other well-known heroes hailing from the universes of Image and Marvel Comics as well.

Dressing as other DC mainstays like Tim Drake’s Robin, Beast Boy, and even a League of Shadows-inspired Batman, Mat has also become Iron Fist, Spider-Man, Spider-Punk, Spawn, Invincible, and more, with each new look proving that Mat has what it takes to create something that looks great in the real world while staying true to their original designs.

Taking a page out of Hugh Jackman’s recent return to the role that made him famous, this Deadpool & Wolverine-inspired yellow and blue cosplay is a variation on an evergreen costume that fans know well. Occasionally wearing reinforced outfits depending on the situation at hand, Wolverine has previously worn armor made entirely out of adamantium, donned an enchanted Asgardian set, and even wore a similar-looking black and yellow suit dubbed the Ablation Armor that protected Logan after he lost his healing factor, with Mat taking these influential designs a step further by bringing his armor to life with stellar results.

Wolverine and Hulk have tussled for years now in comics, with one of the pair’s earliest and most iconic battles getting a perfect cosplay tribute.

Seen in three photos shot by Aarica Brittany (@_aaricabrittanyphotography_), Mat’s homemade look stands out with its vibrant yellow and blue colored battle-ravaged design, with the suit’s textured material and Hollywood-level quality showing Mat’s exemplary skills when creating for the live-action space. Next seen snarling with adamantium claws unsheathed, each image shows a different angle of Mat’s suit, with the first two giving fans a close-up of the incredible detail Matt put into it and the third picture showing a crouched but full-body shot of Mat getting ready to slice and dice the next villain to cross his path.

Wolverine Needs a Permanent Armored Costume After Seeing This Badass Cosplay

It remains to be seen if Hugh Jackman will once again reprise his role as the MCU’s Wolverine in Avengers: Doomsday or its already announced sequel Avengers: Secret Wars, so until these films are finally released, fans will have to rely on talented cosplayers like Mat (@visionarts) for their real-world Logan fix, something that shouldn’t be a problem based on custom costumes like this one. Wolverine doesn’t necessarily need armor to protect him in battle, considering his advanced healing factor usually does the job, but anything that adds to the character’s badass design can only be a good thing.
