  • Players can obtain Mualani in Phase 1, while Kinich will make his debut in Phase 2 banners.

The details about all the new playable Natlan characters in Genshin Impact 5.0 have been officially revealed, giving players more knowledge about how they play out and how they can be inserted into various types of team comps. The arrival of Natlan in Version 5.0 kicks off a new year of content for the action RPG by developer HoYoverse. Players will now venture into the Nation of Pyro, experience a brand new main story arc, and meet the roster of new Natlan characters in Genshin Impact, many of which have already been revealed and should be released in future updates.

While many of these characters may be met during the first story quests, only three of them will become playable with Version 5.0. HoYoverse had already teased them as the first three Natlan characters, but they have now been confirmed. Each of these characters has already had their gameplay kits leaked, too, which was also confirmed by the developer. They operate somewhat differently on the battlefield given their elements, weapons, and abilities, but players looking forward to new DPS in Genshin Impact may want to hold onto their pulls for Version 5.0 as there are two powerful damage dealers arriving.

Three New Natlan Characters Arrive In Genshin Impact 5.0

Mualani & Kinich Are 5-Star Units, While Kachina Is A 4-Star Character

As was previously teased and now confirmed during the Version 5.0 livestream, which was broadcast on the official Genshin Impact channel on Twitch, three new characters will be released during the update. Mualani, Kinich, and Kachina will be the first three playable Natlan characters with Version 5.0. According to the livestream, Mualani and Kinich will be 5-star characters, whereas Kachina will be a 4-star unit. Mualani will debut in Phase 1 character banners, while Phase 2 banners will see Kinich available for the first time. Kachina will also debut in Phase 1 banners.

The Character Is Expected To Match Neuvillette’s Power

After a series of leaks about her, Mualani has been confirmed and her gameplay kit has been officially presented. The 5-star character is a main DPS that uses Hydro DMG in combat and wields a catalyst. This means that she is capable of regularly dealing Hydro DMG via her Normal Attacks. The gist of Mualani’s rotation is summoning her Sharky Surfboard mount into battle and riding it. While riding this mount, Mualani’s movement speed is increased and it allows her to float over dangerous terrain in Genshin Impact. On the mount, Mualani is also in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state.

This state converts her Normal Attacks into Sharky’s Bite, which deals Hydro DMG. This move consumes Nightsoul points and scales off of her HP stat. In a sense, Mualani is somewhat like Neuvillette in the sense that they are both Hydro DPS whose damage scales off their HP. Mualani can further improve the damage she does by crashing into opponents while on the shark-shaped mount. By doing this, they are marked and she gains a stack of Charge. Each of these stacks increases the power of her Normal Attacks (or Sharky’s Bites) in Genshin Impact.

Upon reaching the maximum number of Charge, Mualani deals massive damage and clears the stacks. Additionally, Mualani will fire missiles at enemies marked by her collision attack, up to five targets. The power of these missiles lowers with the increasing number of enemies, which makes it ideal for her to try and focus on a single target – this way, the damage is increased against them. Mualani’s Elemental Burst is a powerful missile strike dealing Hydro DMG to opponents in an AoE. Mualani’s main focus in Genshin Impact team comps will truly be dealing damage while present on the field.

Kinich Is A Dendro DPS In Genshin Impact 5.0

The New Character Boasts A Great Mobility Skill For Combat

Kinich, on the other hand, is a 5-star Dendro unit. In battle, the character uses a claymore, and, like Mualani, his main focus is being present on the field to deal damage to opponents, making him the team’s main DPS. With no enemies nearby, Kinich’s Elemental Skill will see him using a grappling hook to swing upward and forward. However, when Kinich is in combat, this Elemental Skill will see him attach the grapple hook to an opponent and start spinning around the Genshin Impact enemy he is attached to. Doing this, Kinich is in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state.

While spinning around the enemy, Kinich will fire projectiles at the central target, which deal Dendro DMG. Landing these hits generates more Nightsoul points and, when it reaches the maximum amount, his Elemental Skill can be used again. This will see Kinich end his spinning acrobatics by throwing a bomb at the central target. The livestream also confirmed that, if players hold Kinich’s Elemental Skill once they have Nightsoul points at the maximum, they can use it to connect Kinich’s grappling hook in Genshin Impact to another target before throwing the bomb.

With his Elemental Burst, Kinich summons Ajaw, his pixel-like dragon partner to execute an AoE attack that deals Dendro DMG. This effect persists for some time when Kinich leaves the field and is a great move to use to finish his rotation and continue dealing damage as players swap through the team comps supports for buffs, protection, and healing. The Elemental Burst’s duration can be extended if Kinich is in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state. Like Emilie in Genshin Impact, Kinich can gain benefits from triggering Burning reactions – with Burning or Bloom reactions, he gains more Nightsoul points.

Kachina May Be Used As A DPS Or Sub-DPS In Genshin Impact 5.0

The 4-Star Character Can Summon A Drill Onto The Battlefield

Contrary to the two previous units, Kachina is a 4-star unit. The Geo character uses a polearm in battle and, her focus is also dealing damage to opponents, she can either be used as a main DPS or an off-field sub-DPS. Kachina’s Elemental Skill allows her to summon a drill onto the battlefield, which she can mount if players want to. When she is not mounted, the drill periodically deals AoE Geo DMG that scales off of her DEF stat. While mounted, Kachina will have increased movement speed and use Normal Attacks to deal AoE Geo DMG in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact and the developer HoYoverse are being heavily criticized by the community following the reveal of the upcoming characters from Natlan.

Kachina will be able to climb walls while mounted on her drill. With her Elemental Burst, Kachina deals AoE Geo DMG and creates a field, which further increases her movement speed while mounted on her drill. All of these characters’ mobility skills can be used outside of combat and when added to the presence of the Saurians, it highlights Natlan’s intent on exploration. Natlan’s release in Genshin Impact is only a few weeks away, and now players interested in the new characters should start saving their Primogems.
