All Truth And Lie Choice Options Guide

With a core story based around the themes of Pinocchio, Lies of P naturally gives players several opportunities to put their morality to the test by giving them the option to lie during certain conversations. NPCs are greatly affected by what you say to them, and their stories often branch in a specific direction based on your response.

There are three possible endings to Lies of P, which are largely determined by how often you tell lies or the truth throughout your playthrough. While one of these conclusions boils down to a choice separate from your dialogue choices, the other two reflect the personality of the character you’ve crafted.

Every Truth & Lie Option in Lies of P

Sometimes You Will Be Forced To Choose One Or The Other

Some dialogue options in Lies of P will reward you with Records or special audio logs that reveal more about the setting and characters you spoke to. Lying often also creates an aesthetic change within Pinocchio, similarly to the original story, but it is purely cosmetic and does not affect gameplay. Fifteen different interactions will allow you the option to deliver brutal honesty or tell a lie. Note that while some situations are minor, others may be significant commitments that affect the story’s duration.

Telling lies more often than the truth will give you a chance to reach an ending that will provide you with the golden lie, a
secret weapon when starting New Game+

. Note that lying itself is not the condition that unlocks this weapon; it is listening to all the Records, which can only be done if you have obtained them by lying.

Hotel Krat Entrance

The first instance of a truth/lie choice you’ll see is outside the main Hub area of Lies of P, Hotel Krat. After defeating the Parade Master boss fight, Sophia will ask you whether Pinocchio is a puppet, prompting this option. The only way to enter the Hotel is to lie, as the feral nature of puppets will cause Sophia not to open the way forward if you tell her the truth.

  • Truth: Puppet
  • Lie: Human (You must lie here to progress)

Woman In The Window

On Elysion Boulevard, you’ll encounter the shadow of a woman through a window, crying out for someone to save her missing child. Traveling to Krat City Hall allows you to find the Broken Baby Puppet and return it to the mother, activating the dialogue choice. Choosing to lie will reward you with a record, while telling the truth rewards you with a Vivid Ergo Fragment and Feel.

  • Truth: That’s just a Puppet.
  • Lie: That’s A Cute Baby.

The Atoned

At the train station in Moonlight Town, a figure called The Atoned will prevent you from going to the cathedral ahead. You can lie here and say you are part of the Stalkers, a group with a lot of authority in Krat, to have The Atoned tell you their story and give you the Cable Railway Key. Telling the truth will cause a boss fight with the creature, who drops the Key along with The Atoned’s Mask when defeated.

  • Truth: Do Nothing
  • Lie: Give The Stalker’s Greeting

Alidoro – St. Frangelico Cathedral Library

Alidoro is an NPC who can become a potential vendor based on whether you lie to them. Upon either decision here, you will be given Fire Abrasive for at least speaking to the lonely individual. Telling the truth lets Alidoro show up at Hotel Krat with various weapons and amulets for sale in exchange for Ergo. However, you may want to hang on to your Ergo to level up fast in Lies of P instead.

  • Truth: Hotel Krat
  • Lie: Venigni Work

Alidoro – Workshop Union Entrance

Lying to Alidoro in St. Frangelico Cathedral leads to him showing up at the Venigni Works Workshop Union, fully aware that you were deceitful last time. As with last time, telling the truth leads Alidoro to Hotel Krat. However, if you lie again, they will still show up at the Hotel but may deny you some of their items.

  • Truth: Hotel Krat
  • Lie: Elysion Blvd.

Julian the Gentleman

Next to the Street Culvert Stargazer on Rosa Isabelle Street, you meet Julian the Gentleman, who wants you to retrieve his wife’s belongings from the nearby fires. There, you will discover his wife was a puppet and choose to answer his question, “Who ever heard of a human and a puppet in love?” Lying will get you his wedding ring and a sad gesture while telling the truth, giving you a radiant ergo fragment.

  • Truth: I’ve never seen that happen before.
  • Lie: I saw the message she left, saying she loves you.

Antonia – Hotel Krat

Once you take down the King of Puppets boss in Lies of P, return to Hotel Krat and speak with Antonia to initiate this dialogue option. She will ask if she still retains any beauty from a painting of her younger self. Lying will get you points with this NPC for good manners, although there are no items received for either choice here.

  • Truth: There’s nothing left.
  • Lie: Of course!

Polendina – Hotel Krat

You can find Polendina after speaking to Antonia if you lied to Julian the Gentleman. Much like Julian, Polendina wants to know if love can exist between a human and a puppet in Lies of P. Lying may be what the NPC wants to hear, but showing the Ring for the Truth option will give them comfort in their taboo love. You will receive the Gemini Iron Protection regardless of your choice.

  • Truth: Show the Wedding Ring.
  • Lie: There’s no such Puppet.

Simon Manus

At the Grand Exhibition Gallery, you might run into the NPC Simon Manus, who congratulates you for defeating the boss Victor in Lies of P. He will then ask you what you think about the Petrification Disease that has spread over Krat and what his “cure” has created. No matter what you answer him with, he will hand over the Saintess of Mercy Statue Gallery Key, which leads to a location that helps you respec your character.

  • Truth: Monsters.
  • Lie: Hope of a cure.

Eugenie – Hotel Krat

With Alidoro in Hotel Krat, you can hand over an item called the Four-Fingered Glove to them from Eugenie, then report back to the latter NPC to tell him how Alidoro felt about the hand gear. Lying will make Eugenie happy and grant you a Fire Abrasive while telling the truth, making her rethink her design and give you an Electric Blitz Abrasive instead.

  • Truth: He was angry. He said the gloves were rubbish.
  • Lie: He was happy.

Relic of Trismegitus Phone Call

A phone call between you and the King of Riddles eventually leads to a simple question – whether Gepetto’s creation is a killer or not. Recognizing Pinocchio’s actions will gift you with The Chosen One’s Trinity Key while lying will give you nothing.

Venigni’s Question

An important plot point in Lies of P revolves around the Creator, a mysterious figure who caused all the puppets in Krat to become volatile and violent. Ergo, the readings you bring back to the NPC Venigni reveal a conversation between someone named Carlo and this Creator. Static prevents Venigni from hearing Geppeto’s name, resulting in a choice that doesn’t reward you with anything for either option.

  • Truth: Geppeto caused the Puppet Frenzy.
  • Lie: I couldn’t hear.

Belle’s Partner

Belle is another NPC you can become close with in Hotel Krat and asks you to find her partner, Atkinson, in Grand Central Station. Here, you can find Atkinson infected by the Petrification Disease, and he asks you not to tell Belle of his fate through a letter he gives you. No matter your choice, Belle will give you an Electric Blitz Canister and the Why expression.

  • Truth: He became a monster.
  • Lie: He was killed in action fighting a puppet.

Geppetto

Gepetto, the Creator behind the Puppet Frenzy, can be found in a cell warning you of Simon’s impending plan to absorb all his collected Ergo to become a god. Your father asks if he has been trustworthy to you, causing this branching dialogue. Lying to him gives him the courage to continue, but telling the truth still doesn’t change his resolve.

Simon and Sophia

The final choice here comes after you defeat Simon, the final boss of Lies of P, and depends on what you did with Sophia when you found her true form in the Arche Abbey. Whether you choose to give Sophia peace or let her live, your conversation here with Simon serves only to swing your choices one way or another one last time. All truth and lie options made will then be tallied in Lies of P as you reach your ending.

  • Truth: I gave her peace.
  • Lie: I liberated her from Arche Abbey.
