Bell’s, Los Alamos – Gotham Gal

Taking a few day jaunt from LA is such a visual treat. Driving up or down the coast, it doesn’t matter. The topography is stunning, vast, lush, desertlike, and then, of course, there is the Pacific ocean.

We took a few days to drive to Paso Robles to see the Bruce Munro installation (more on that tomorrow). The strong move is to eat at Bell’s in Los Alamos. Keep in mind the town is about a few blocks long almost feels like a cowboy town. And Bell’s sits in the center. It is a gem.

We sat outside in the back. The wine was the first decision. Not only was the food delicious, the vibe, the service, and the whole thing just felt good.

We split everything. Nothing better than sardines, butter, saltines, and a spot of hot sauce.

Beautiful caviar presentation on one side, creamy horseradish creme fraiche with Utz potato chips on the side. I could eat this all day, every day.

Topped on a mille crepe with a bit of caviar and Santa Barbara uni. Heaven?

I love the mussel pot.

Looking back on that meal and the rest of the food we ate over our short trip, we should have ordered more.
