With more than 80 franchise licenses in various development stages and more room for growth, the Baltimore, Maryland- based brand has bolstered its leadership team with the addition of industry veteran David Floyd as vice president of franchise development.
Floyd brings more than a decade of franchise experience to Celebree, including experience as a multi-brand franchisee. He started his career in business as a financial analyst for 13 years before becoming a franchise development manager in various roles.
Most recently, Floyd was the Development Director for FranDevCo, where he was responsible for managing the growth of a portfolio of emerging franchise brands across multiple industries. We checked in with Floyd to learn more about his plans to leverage his vast experience to help guide others as they explore franchising for themselves.
You bring an impressive resume of skill sets and franchise experience to the table for Celebree. What drew you to the brand?
Floyd: When I first met with Celebree, I was immediately impressed by the leadership and culture behind the brand—they are truly experts in the childcare industry. The Executive Leadership team is made up of leaders who have been with Celebree in many cases for 15 to 20-plus years. The amount of industry knowledge and passion that the Celebree team has is truly exceptional. Over the last 25 years, Celebree has developed a winning formula for creating and running highly successful preschools. Now we get to use that winning formula to help our franchisees build their own successful schools as we expand across the U.S.
As you settle into your new role, what is your mission?
Floyd: My charge is to continue the growth and the momentum that Celebree already has. We aim to expand to 150 schools by 2025, and we are excited that we are ahead of schedule to meet that goal.
How do you plan to get there?
Floyd: Celebree’s growth is coming from a mix of new and existing franchisees. Along with adding at least 24 new franchisees to the Celebree family in 2023, we are seeing our existing franchisees open additional locations in their markets, which is very exciting. The vast majority of Celebree franchise owners have signed development agreements and plan to open multiple locations.
What do you want franchise prospects to know or better understand about Celebree?
Floyd: Owning a Celebree Franchise is such a rewarding experience for our franchisees. Very few businesses allow you the opportunity to have the type of impact that we do on our students’ families and our communities. We get to nurture the next generation during some of their most formative years. There are many different businesses and franchises out there, but it’s rare to experience the type of joy and personal satisfaction that you get when you own a Celebree School.
Anything else you would like to share about the future of Celebree?
Floyd: This is such an exciting time to be part of Celebree. We’re beginning to get strong footholds in some of our key target markets, and people are becoming very familiar with the Celebree name. As far as we have already come as a brand, it’s very exciting to know that we are still at the beginning of this journey with so much growth and success in front of us.
