Going Green And Staying Green With Your Business

You might have heard that consumers love a company who is eco-friendly and green-focused. People are always more likely to buy from this kind of company as they share their own beliefs. You should always stay focused and up to date with new and existing ways to make your business as green as possible. What was once just recycling to save the planet has turned into so much more. This article will give you further ideas on how to become more eco-friendly.

Types Of Power

Within your business, you may be spending a fortune on energy bills. Office blocks and buildings have a lot of power sockets and lighting. You could look into setting up different types of energy supplies within your business if you have the necessary means. When we talk about power supplies we mean solar power and wind power. This can power your business and save you money, potentially cutting your annual electricity bill in half. It may not seem like a great way to save money while saving the planet due to the amount alternative power costs to install. However, once that payment has been made and they are up and running you will soon start to notice a difference.

Recycling

Once upon a time, a little while ago recycling was the only way to do your bit to save the planet. However, now you can buy products that are made using the items you have recycled. Well, maybe not you per se but you get the drift. Make sure that you have recycling bins dotted around your building so employees can recycle wherever they are. It may be paper, card, or packaging from their lunch.

There is another form of recycling that looks great when people look up your business. If you are a food business and regularly use cooking fats and oils then you should look into using the services of yellow grease and UCO pickup. They pick up your oil and grease then other companies reuse it or recycle it.

Eco-friendly products

This option could work out expensive so before you do it you will need to work out if it fits into your budget. There are many other recycled products you can purchase for the office and surrounding areas such as the kitchen and bathrooms. You may have noticed that you can now buy refillable cleaning sprays, reusing is the best form of recycling.

You can even purchase in bulk recycled toilet paper that is eco-friendly and biodegradable as well as paper towels. You can even stock the kitchen and water fountains using recycled paper cups. If you don’t want to cause even more harm to the environment and even your health then you might like the idea of using ‘clean’ cleaning products. These are free from harmful chemicals and come in recyclable bottles.

Powering down

It can be incredibly tempting to leave your computers and other tech on standby when the day is through. You may like the idea of your employees being able to wiggle their mouse at the start of the day and be ready to go as soon as possible. However, this is damaging to the environment and can cause your energy bills to skyrocket. Leaving items on standby still adds to your energy bills, so if you are wondering why they cost so much this might be why.

Encourage your employees to power down at the end of each day, if need be you can leave signs around to remind people of this. This also applies to electrical items in the kitchen of which there may be a few, microwaves, kettles, and hot water machines.

Energy efficient

If you look around your office and think about which items you are sure are green-friendly and energy-efficient, the answer might be not a lot. However, the good news is you can change this and ensure that your items are eco-friendly. One such example that not many people think about these days is lightbulbs. A good few years ago there was a lot of media about switching to energy-efficient lightbulbs but this seems to have faded out.

It should be a top priority to switch your light bulbs to LED ones, these are super energy-efficient and can last up to a decade. This is great as they save you money on your energy bill and your budget as you will not need to constantly buy new bulbs.
