Best Life Brands CEO J.J. Sorrenti has had his sights set on the accessibility vertical since he started his role four years ago.

The residential and commercial accessibility franchise has locations across the United States and Canada. Next Day Access, launched in 2010 and franchising since 2012, provides accessibility and mobility products to help those in need stay safe and comfortable in their homes. Products include wheelchair ramps, grab bars, mobility scooters and stair lifts.

The acquisition brings in a new vertical for Riverside Company-backed Best Life, which now spans about 700 locations in 40 states and three provinces. Best Life Brands, based in Troy, Michigan, has the mission of providing seniors with ways to maintain their independence as they age.

“The accessibility space was something we’ve been focused on since I joined the company four years ago,” Best Life CEO J.J. Sorrenti said. The accessibility brand complements Best Life’s other brands: ComForCare and At Your Side, CarePatrol, Blue Moon Estate Sales and Boost Home Healthcare. “There’s obviously going to be demand and we want to be able to help solve that for a whole bunch of families.”

The in-home senior care segment has grown significantly in recent years, as the elderly population looks to stay in their homes as long as possible. Home Instead Senior Care is a top performer in the category, earning $2.4 billion systemwide in 2022 across 1,217 units. There’s also Right at Home, which did $778 million in 2022 among its 712 units, 96 percent of which are franchised. Senior Helpers is another, with 327 units in 2022, bringing in $387 million.

Best Life started conversations with Next Day Access about a year ago, ramping up at the end of last year.

The company takes a two-pronged approach to bring Next Day’s services to as many people as possible, Sorrenti said. The first prong is helping existing franchisees grow in their territories, which Best Life will do by learning the ins and outs of the business. The second part, Sorrenti said, is expanding to new territories.

“We love the solutions,” he said. “They bring so many important things to the people we’re able to provide it to. It provides comfort, safety, independence and dignity. I love being able to bring that to people.”
