Silo
season 2 is set to feature some exciting shifts in setting and tone that will keep the storyline from becoming stale or predictable.
Silo season 2 story details have been released, teasing Juliette’s (Rebecca Ferguson) fight for survival and a mystery silo. Created by Graham Yost and based on the novel trilogy by author Hugh Howey, the series chronicles one woman’s attempts to uncover the truth about the underground silo that houses the last remnants of society after a toxic disaster on the surface. The Apple TV+ sci-fi mystery show premiered on the streamer last year, earning positive reviews and becoming a viewership hit, and Silo season 2 was promptly given the green light.
Now, as the wait continues for Silo season 2, Yost shares new details about the sophomore season with EW. The showrunner reveals that the premiere episode will follow Juliette as she struggles to survive, but there will also be a flashback to a mystery silo in the midst of a dangerous rebellion. As for the rest of the season, expect one storyline that follows Juliette while another charts growing discontent from the people in her silo. Check out comments from Yost below:
“Juliette has a very difficult time getting into this other silo, and she’s looking for safety ’cause her suit is running out of air. The wondrous tape that Walker [Harriet Walter] arranged for her to have her suit wrapped in, that’s going to fail. A lot of the episode is about Juliette just trying to survive and the engineering stuff she has to do to try to stay alive.
“The premiere [follows] Juliette, but we actually don’t start with her. We’re going to start back an undetermined — at least at first — amount of time ago, in another silo. We’re going to see a rebellion going very wrong…
“Juliette tries to stay alive in an empty silo and starts to figure out the mystery behind it. At some point she gets a sense she might not be alone. Then at the very end of the episode there’s a twist.”
Silo Season 2’s Story Details Are A Promising Sign
The Apple TV+ Show Is Making Some Big Changes
The Silo season 1 reviews were generally positive from critics and the show enjoys a strong 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, but season 2 is making some crucial changes that will keep the story from becoming stale or repetitive. The action in season 1 is confined almost entirely to one silo, with a central mystery being what lies above ground and whether it’s safe. The Silo season 1 finale features Juliette travelling to the surface and discovering dozens of other identical silos, opening up the world of the show dramatically.
Silo
season 2 doesn’t yet have a release date, but Ferguson previously revealed the new season wrapped filming in March 2024.
While season 2 will feature plenty of action back in Juliette’s old silo, with key returning Silo cast members like Tim Robbins and Common, Ferguson’s character traversing a post-apocalyptic landscape will undoubtedly keep things looking and feeling fresh. Her exploration of an abandoned silo is also sure to make for an interesting tonal shift, as such a location will create the opportunity to lean into some light scares. Judging from Yost’s comment, it sounds like this abandoned silo might not actually be empty after all, and it’s entirely possible that any remaining inhabitants won’t be friendly.

The finale of Silo season 1 left audiences with many plotlines to look forward to, and season 2 is sure to develop exciting new stories for viewers.
The dynamic within Juliette’s old silo is also set to undergo a major change, since her seemingly successful journey to the surface will have residents questioning the leadership of Robbins’ Bernard Holland. The flashback to the rebellion in the season 2 premiere is undoubtedly being shown as an omen of what could befall Juliette’s home, raising the stakes in a big way. It remains to be seen how Silo season 2 will compare to season 1, but the Apple TV+ show is evidently going to be shaking things up.
