Despite Yung Miami rapping that “You know it’s tea when you see them two fingers touching”—fans think it might be the complete opposite, with at least one telling her to give up music and “apply for her CDL”–the professional license for operating large vehicles like semi-trucks.
Earlier this week, the City Girl previewed a snippet of her latest track — and unfortunately, a number of listeners were not feeling it. Social media wasted no time chiming in, with comments calling the song “unfinished,” “outdated,” and “not hitting like it should.”
Others joked that she should stick to podcasting or branding, and said she should “make up” with her City Girls cohort, JT, so that she can make better music.
In response, Yung Miami brushed off the criticism, saying the song might just need time to “grow on people.”
She followed up by retweeting fans on Twitter who were certain that people would change their minds about the track.
“S*** been stuck in yall head ever since,” wrote the rapper.
She even responded to a fan directly who told her to look into driving trucks instead of rapping.
Amid all of the backlash, Miami stepped into TheShadeRoom to defend herself, telling detractors who’ve criticized her acting, rapping, and vernacular that she won’t be deterred.
“Yall said I couldn’t rap, act, talk, do nothing but look pretty but look at me tho! Look how far I came 8 yrs later! I’m ok and yall gone get this music just sit tight!!!!”
Periooodt, Caresha!
