Papoose and Remy Ma were at one point a Hip-Hop power couple and shared much of their relationship with the public, who found them inspirational. Now amid a bitter separation period en route to divorce, Papoose delivered a new track last week aimed at Remy and the reactions from fans online are in.
The new track from Papoose, titled “Jezebel,” finds the Brooklyn rapper delivering bars over an R&B-tinged track by producer Sean2 Miles. Rapping in an almost somber tone, Pap uses the first verse to call out alleged infractions Remy Ma made while the two were a couple.
“You cheated with a fake Papoose/I never spoke to the public even though it was true/Just kept raisin’ my daughter like a father should do/She cried callin’ your phone; we couldn’t get through/I finally got tired; year number two/Now you make up a lie and said I cheated on you?/How bizarre is this? I always treated you marvelous/But there’s nothing worse than a narcissist,” Pap begins.
In the second verse, Pap continues by addressing the listener while claiming Remy Ma didn’t enjoy all the fanfare over their marriage.
“When y’all admired the love that I showed Remy, she hated it, bro/She said ‘I’m that bitch, why they not sayin’ it, though?’/They sayin’ ‘You a good husband,’ I ain’t hatin, but so?/They should be sayin’ ‘I’m that bitch, I be slayin’ these hoes’/I said ‘Calm down, that’s not the way that it goes/They complimentin’ us, sayin’ we relationships goals,’” Pap continued.
Remy Ma has yet to respond in song form but did take to social media to mock the song’s release via her Instagram Stories feed.
A video accompanied the release of “Jezebel,” and fans online have had time to sit with the track and add their reactions. Some are calling it Papoose’s best track while others say he sounds like he still has affection for his ex.
