The PS5 Pro is already hard to acquire, and now GameStop and other third-party retailers are raising the price of used consoles.
The Grand Theft Auto 6 effect is very real, plus Rampocalypse and Donald Trump’s blatant use of tariffs, making it very difficult for gamers to get their hands on the PS5 Pro console. Now that challenge has become even greater after GameStop and other third-party retailers have raised the price of used PS5 Pro consoles as much as $1,400, a $500 markup from the retail price.
Rumors began swirling online that GameStop would raise the price of used PS5 Pro consoles to $1,399 for an all-digital version. The company confirmed the news on its website by listing the updated price.
GameStop wasn’t alone; third-party resellers selling through Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart have also raised prices to similarly ridiculous levels.
Bruh.
If you are currently searching for a PS5 Pro console ahead of GTA 6’s launch, good luck, because the console has been sold out following Sony’s raising the price of the premium console from $750 to $900.
It won’t get any easier to cop a PS5 Pro as we get closer to GTA 6’s November 19 release, as Rockstar Games pushes people to play their highly anticipated game on the premium console, and Sony is already struggling to meet demand.
Gamers have been sounding off, pointing out that at current resale prices, a PS5 Pro costs as much as a nice PC, but the console’s one advantage is that it can play GTA 6.
Damn.
Maybe one day the video game market will be normal, but until that day comes, you can see more reactions below.
