Diddy Files Defamation Lawsuit Over Sexual Assault Claims

Diddy is going to war against one of the people who accused him of sexual assault as well as TV network NewsNation for broadcasting his claims.

Diddy initially sued Courtney Burgess for $50 million earlier this year but has now amended his suit to include the news network.

He is also seeking additional compensation – up to $100 million – and claims the allegations caused “severe reputational harm”.

The lawsuit adds: “In this pitiful spectacle, all pretense of objectivity has been abandoned, as a global audience feasts at the all-you-can-eat buffet of wild lies and conspiracy theories. Mitchell [Burgess’ attorney] and Burgess are among the worst perpetrators in this offensive scenario.”

In an October 2024 interview, Burgess, accompanied his attorney, claimed that he was in possession of videos that showed Diddy committing sexual assault, including against children.

Burgess, Mitchell and NewsNation are yet to respond to the suit.

Meanwhile, Diddy will remain in jail until his sentence is decided in October.

In his highly publicized trial last month, the music mogul was acquitted of the most serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering while being convicted of the lesser offence of engaging in transportation for prostitution.

Since the trial, Diddy has made bids for bail, each of which have been denied by the judge who claims the record executive had failed to prove there are “exceptional” reasons for why he should be released.

Diddy’s history of domestic violence was also cited in the reasoning behind denying him bail.

Diddy and his legal team are yet to comment on their latest failed bond attempt.

One person who did support the rapper’s release was an ex-girlfriend by the name of Virginia Huynh, who was originally supposed to be a witness in the trial when she was only referred to as “Victim-3”.

In a letter to the judge, Huynh said he should be allowed bail to “allow him to continue caring for his family and fulfilling his responsibilities while still subject to the Court’s supervision.”

Huynh also detailed her relationship with Diddy: “Our relationship, like many, was not always perfect, we experienced ups and downs, and mistakes were made but he was willing to acknowledge his mistakes and make better decisions in the future.”
