Kendrick Lamar Has The Number One Rap Song In The Country Again

Kendrick Lamar once again has the number one rap song in the country with “Luther”.

The SZA collaboration has resumed its position at number one on the Hot Rap Songs chart almost an entire year after it was first released.

The previous number one was “All the Way” by BigXthaPlug and Bailey Zimmerman.

“Luther” has now spent a total of 34 weeks at the top of the Hot Rap Songs chart since its release last November.

The song also spent 13 consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the second longest running number one Hip Hop song of all time behind Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”.

Kendrick’s feud with Drake has resurfaced of late and was referenced by Tina Fey at the Emmy Awards.

Fey was presenting the award for Outstanding Live Variety special for which Kendrick was nominated for his performance at the Super Bowl earlier this year.

Before announcing the winner, Fey quipped: “If Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime special wins I’m really going to hear it from Drake. And Drake and I are supposed to play pickleball tomorrow. So… anyway…”

Drake and Kendrick are yet to respond to the joke but the Compton rapper did lose out on the award to an episode of Saturday Night Live.

Drake recently took a shot at Kendrick on new song “Dog House” which is expected to appear on his upcoming album, Iceman.

Referencing the Compton superstar’s eminently popular song “Money Trees”, Drizzy raps: “Fuck a money tree, I’m a cash cow / If I ain’t give a fuck then, I don’t give a fuck now .”

Drizzy also scored something of a win in his legal battle with UMG over Kendrick’s diss song “Not Like Us”.

Drake has been granted redacted access to Kendrick’s contract with the recording giant by Judge Jeanette Vargas.

Vargas said: “Plaintiff and UMG’s request… for permission to file under seal a contract between UMG Recordings, Inc. and Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, as produced by UMG in redacted form with the designation Attorney’s Eyes Only, is GRANTED.”

Vargas added: “UMG has made a sufficient showing that the information that he seeks to seal qualifies as confidential, ‘sensitive business information.’”

However, the judge ultimately ruled: “In this instance, the ‘interest in protecting confidential business information outweighs the qualified First Amendment presumption of public access’”.
