The Game Claims He’s The Best West Coast Rapper: “Can’t Nobody Out-Rap Me”

Most Game fans would agree that his Documentary-era prime is behind him, but the man himself still believes he belongs on the throne of West Coast hip-hop.

Appearing on the latest episode of Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, the Compton native confidently asserted that he’s the number one rapper repping the Left Coast today.

“Can’t nobody out-rap me, man,” he declared. “And anybody that knows will know. No one can do what I do. No one has my skillset. Not only do I have the ability to rap circles around people, I’m also with all the bullshit too if it came down to that. I’m the best rapper in this town.”

After former NFL star Sharpe pushed back on The Game’s statement and mentioned legends like Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg, the Aftermath alumnus doubled down.

“I love Cube but Cube can’t out-rap me,” he claimed. “And by the way, the reason that Cube can’t out-rap me is because I used Cube’s legacy to help me sharpen [my skills]. I used Snoop’s legacy to help me sharpen myself. I used Dr. Dre and N.W.A … those guys came before me.

“It’s like Kobe [watching] Mike growing up. In Kobe’s prime, Mike couldn’t hold Kobe. But that’s because he came before him and he was done with it. Now, if I was in 1992 with Cube, Cube might be able to go crazy. But right now? Nah, there’s not a rapper on the West that’s better than me.”

Asked if he sees himself as the best rapper from his hometown of Compton — a city that has also birthed the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Eazy-E and DJ Quik — The Game replied: “I’m definitely the best rapper from Compton. Definitely.”

Watch his comments at the 1:19:16 mark below.

The Game’s bold claim comes hot on the heels of his latest project, Gangsta Grillz: Every Movie Needs a Trailer.

Marking his first entry in DJ Drama‘s iconic mixtape series and first solo effort since 2022’s Drillmatic, the 18-track project boasts appearances from Mozzy, Jeremih, Eric Bellinger, O.T. Genasis and even former Paramore singer Hayley Williams.

Kanye West was also supposed to lend his star power to the supporting cast on a sequel to their classic Late Registration collaboration “Crack Music,” but The Game decided to shelve it at the last minute, according to messages he exchanged with a Ye fan account.

Gangsta Grillz: Every Movie Needs a Trailer is designed to whet appetites for his long-awaited The Documentary 3, the third installment in The Game’s flagship album series.

“We coming top of the year … January, February — something like that,” he recently told Real 92.3 L.A.’s J Cruz. “I was going to stop with The Documentary 2 but my grandmother always told me, ‘In life, you got three acts.’ And in the Bible, it says you live three scores and a 10 — a score is 20 and a 10 [equals] 70. So if you live to 70 years old, you’ve lived a pretty full life.”

The Game added: “I wanted to do a trilogy just to service my grandmother’s memory and the things she taught me — being more mature and wiser, being a God MC at this point. If anybody knows anything about The Game, they know my pen is never slacking and my ability to put together albums compeltely is always top-tier, so [The Documentary 3] is incredible.”
