50 Cent has spent years taking shots at Sean “Diddy” Combs, and he apparently isn’t worried about an awkward reunion when the Bad Boy founder gets out of prison. Asked whether he had any concerns about Diddy’s eventual release, the Queens rapper responded with a joke that had the room cracking up.
As spotted on HotNewHipHop, Fif addressed the subject during an appearance on Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant podcast released Wednesday, October 14. While the conversation included his involvement in Street Fighter, Schulz also asked whether his ongoing commentary about Combs could become a problem once the music mogul is free. “No, I got shooters, you think he was the only one? Why you think I stay in this bullsh*t for so long,” 50 said. The response drew laughter from Schulz and his co-hosts, with Fif treating the question as another opportunity to get a joke off at his longtime rival’s expense. Judging by that answer, a release date isn’t about to make him retire the Diddy commentary.
Meanwhile, Combs has been making headlines over a reported altercation at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. According to TMZ, sources inside the facility alleged that he fought with Christopher “Dudus” Coke after other inmates became upset over increased scrutiny following reporting about Combs’ alleged access to contraband and special treatment. The outlet linked the alleged confrontation to a head injury that required medical attention.
PEOPLE separately reported, citing a source, that Combs sustained an injury during a fight with a convicted drug lord. He was taken to a hospital October 10 and returned to prison that day. The injury was reportedly not life-threatening, and details of the confrontation remain unclear. His spokesperson told the publication that Combs’ health and well-being were the immediate priority.
The tension between 50 and Diddy stretches back long before Combs’ current incarceration. As PEOPLE previously chronicled, their public friction dates back to Fif’s 2006 diss track “The Bomb.” Their rivalry later extended into the liquor business, with 50 promoting Effen Vodka while Combs was closely associated with Cîroc. Over the years, interviews and social media gave Fif plenty of additional opportunities to keep the jabs coming.
That history took on another dimension when 50 became an executive producer of Sean Combs: The Reckoning. Directed by Alexandria Stapleton, the four-part Netflix documentary examines Combs’ rise, his business empire and the allegations surrounding him through interviews with former associates and others connected to his story.
The series also includes footage of Combs in the days before his September 2024 arrest. His team challenged the use of that footage and criticized the project, while the filmmakers maintained that they obtained the material legally. For 50, the documentary put his involvement in the conversation well beyond Instagram captions and interview punchlines.
Combs is serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. You can see 50 Cent discuss Diddy below.
