For those expecting a collaboration between 50 Cent and Eminem on the soundtrack to the upcoming Street Fighter movie, there’s some disappointment. But that was replaced with news that Eminem is set to release a new album soon.
50 Cent dropped the news on the red carpet for the highly anticipated blockbuster, when he was asked about appearing on the soundtrack with his friend and collaborator. “He put a couple pieces together for it,” 50 Cent began, adding with his distinctive grin: “But as he got closer to his album, he decided to fall back on that.”
The two MCs had long been rumored to have a song together on the Street Fighter soundtrack, ever since 50 was cast to play the boxer Balrog. The G-Unit founder previously teased that collaboration – as well as the inclusion of lyrics from the late Tupac Shakur – earlier in July.
“I got some music that I’m working on. I did something currently me, Eminem and 2Pac,” he said while appearing on Today With Jenna and Shenielle. Noting the hosts’ surprise, he clarified that it wouldn’t be A.I. at work. “They delivered it. It’s for the theme of Street Fighter, the movie. We worked on it and got it right,” he clarified.
A new album by the Detroit-born MC is something fans have been clamoring for since the release of his last full-length project, The Death of Slim Shady in 2024. Eminem hasn’t spoken publicly to confirm or deny a new album is on the way. He last collaborated with 50 Cent on “Gunz n Smoke” off of Snoop Dogg’s Missionary album in 2024.
Eminem’s been in the news recently for reportedly appearing on Kid Rock’s upcoming album. The two are directly opposed on a political standpoint, as Kid Rock is an avid supporter of President Donald Trump and Eminem has been vocally opposed to Trump.
