Todd Tucker is getting candid about the complicated aftermath of his Kandi Burruss divorce, admitting things got “dark” and “lonely” while revealing there’s one part of his former family life he’s relieved to leave in the past. “I was trying to prove myself to somebody who didn’t like me,” said the Til Divorce Do Us, Part creator.
In a recent interview with Page Six, Tucker reflected on the loneliness he experienced after his marriage ended. As previously reported, he and Kandi Burruss announced their divorce in Nov. 2025 after 11 years of marriage, with the divorce finalized in 2026. Tucker said he spent a lot of time alone and in his head, wondering what happened to the family life he had built.
In this viral clip, Tucker reveals their divorce took a “dark” & “lonely” toll on him.
“I’m gonna be honest, when we separated, I stayed in the guesthouse, which is just me in this big house by myself. My kids and the family are next door, and it was a lot of alone time,” Tucker, 53, told Page Six.
“It was a lot of time in my head, thinking, trying to figure out, ‘What did I just do? What just happened? Did I lose my family?’ So I’m gonna be honest, I had nobody really to lean on.”
Todd wenton to share some dark thoughts and even suicidal ideations when going through the divorce.
“I looked at my gun,” Tucker said while describing how low he got during that period.
He added that he does not believe reality television was solely responsible for the split, but he acknowledged that it “played a part.” He also said he tried to work through the problems in the marriage — including suggesting therapy — before eventually accepting that things were not going to continue the way he had hoped.

“Do we have a private marital sex life?” he rhetorically asked Page Six. “And this is not even from me. Like, you’ve heard it from her. So how private is it?”
“Even when she first started saying that we had done a threesome or done threesomes, she didn’t consult with me,” he said. “And for the most part, I’m a good sport, so I never made a problem of it or an issue of it.”

And then there’s Mama Joyce.
If you watched The Real Housewives of Atlanta, you already know Todd and Kandi’s mother — Joyce Jones — have had a relationship that could qualify as its own spinoff, considering Mama Joyce’s “opportunist” comments about him. According to Page Six, Tucker now says being removed from that dynamic feels like “a weight lifted off his shoulders.”
Tucker said he spent years trying to prove himself to someone who did not like him. He also admitted that he allowed what he described as disrespect while attempting to maintain peace.
“I was trying to prove myself to somebody who didn’t like me, and I never stopped,” he told the outlet. “And I’ve never stopped caring about her seeing my kids and making sure [they know], ‘That’s your grandma. Make sure you call her.’”
