Tisha Campbell Is Healing And Helping With New Book

Tisha Campbell Gets Real on The Morning Hustle

Tisha Campbell stopped by The Morning Hustle for a candid conversation about motherhood, healing, and the roles that shaped a generation. The beloved actress opened up like never before, and the community showed up for every word.

A Mother’s Journey, In Her Own Words

Campbell talked about her first book, The A Word: A Mother’s Journey Through Austism and Love, which she wrote entirely herself—no ghostwriter. She shared the heavy moment she learned her son Xen received an autism diagnosis while filming My Wife and Kids. Behind the smile she wore on set, Tisha was carrying a mother’s weight. She also spoke on the medical gaps that too often affect African American children, giving a shout-out to friend Holly Robinson Peete for her guidance through it all.

Understanding Herself: AuDHD

Therapy led Tisha to get tested, and the results changed how she sees her whole life. She was diagnosed with ADHD and autism—a combination now called “AuDHD.” That clarity, she said, finally explained the intense passion she pours into her craft.

Sisterhood and TV Memories

No Tisha interview is complete without Tichina Arnold. She kept it 100 about their lifelong bond—including the occasional fallout—but they always find their way back. She also reminisced on classic Martin days with Damon Wayans and the whole cast, plus writing new comedy material with Finesse Mitchell.
