In a report that admittedly may send chills down your spine, the defense attorney who represented Duane “Keffe D” Davis in the murder trial of Tupac Shakur, has just died.
FOX5 Las Vegas reports that 55-year-old Michael Sanft was found dead on Thursday night (November 5), with the Clark County Coroner’s Office confirming his passing earlier today.
Both a cause and manner of death are still pending, with further details of his death being routed to the coroner’s office. Sanft took on Keffe D pro bono during the Las Vegas trial back in August that eventually saw his client being found guilty and sentenced to 40 years behind bars.
He once told FOX5 that looking back he wouldn’t have chose otherwise, telling the outlet, “We had the best team possible in this case, from the motion practice work on this appeal to our investigator to our firm here at SOS Injury. We all did our part. I don’t see what I could’ve done differently.“
It appears Sanft was in pursuit of an appeal as well, with a notice filed just last week on October 30 according to court records. His team’s defense is that prosecutors are wrong in claiming that Keffe D orchestrated the fatal shooting of 2Pac, even with his own admission in interviews and a memoir — strictly “entertainment” in their words.
Where the appeal goes from here has yet to be determined. However, we don’t think anyone is checking for the man convicted of planning out the killing of a rap legend to get out anytime soon.
