Just because it’s been a minute since Cardi B and Nicki Minaj have traded barbs that doesn’t mean that the two have made any kind of amends and recently Cardi B reminded the world that regardless of the silence there’s still no love lost between the two biggest female rappers in the game.
On Wednesday (Oct. 21), Cardi B took to X Spaces to interact with her fans and address her critics for the list of her personal influencers that she provided to The New York Times. While she credited the likes of Madonna, Lil Kim and Foxy Brown for helping her shape her style and persona, many fans pointed out that she left out Nicki Minaj as Nicki was huge at the time that Cardi B was beginning her rap career.
While some felt this would’ve been the proper moment for Cardi B to extend an olive branch of sorts and credit Nicki Minaj for having some kind of impact on her rap aspirations, Cardi stood on Bronx business and completely omitted the Queens rapper from her list. Even admitted that she knew that Foxy didn’t like her on a personal level, Cardi said she added her to her list because she used to listen to her when she was younger.
Nicki on the other hand, Mrs. B didn’t feel the need to include her onto her list saying “I am a New York hood b*tch,” before going on to say, “If you’re imitating other b*tches, you’re not gonna make it. If you imitate other b*tches’ mannerisms, you’re not gonna make it because you’re not being yourself. So me making it, it was because I’m being myself. There’s nobody I ever wanna be. I became famous being Cardi B.”
Well, she’s not wrong. Though unfortunately for her no matter what she does or says going forward, Nicki Minaj fans will always somehow connect her career moves to their favorite Barbz. That’s just how the game goes these days. Luckily for Cardi though, MAGA country could care less about Nicki Minaj no matter how much she endears herself to Trump world. If they did that would’ve been a whole other world of online harassment. Just sayin.’
