Cardi B popped out in Brooklyn Friday night and gave the crowd a surprise straight out of a classic hip hop moment.
The Bronx bombshell made a guest appearance during Kehlani’s Aug. 21 stop at Barclays Center, joining the singer onstage to perform their fan favorite collaboration “Ring.” Kehlani brought THE KEHLANI WORLD TOUR to Brooklyn with Durand Bernarr, TheARTI$T, DIXSON and WASEEL, but Bardi’s unexpected arrival had the New York crowd going crazy.
And while the performance was a moment, can we get into the LOOK?
Cardi was giving full ’90s rap royalty, serving Lil Kim performing at the Apollo with Biggie energy in a Chanel Métiers d’Art two piece suit. She completed the look with a matching Chanel purse, Chanel shades and heels, because apparently just casually popping out at somebody else’s concert requires head to toe designer. The whole moment felt nostalgic without looking like a costume, and you could tell Cardi was back home with her people.
Fresh off the runway, Cardi’s look comes from the CHANEL Métiers d’Art collection, an annual line the luxury house has presented since 2002 to spotlight the exceptional craftsmanship of specialized ateliers, including embroiderers, feather makers and shoemakers. The collection debuted with a cinematic show in New York and later in Seoul.
The appearance comes just months after Cardi wrapped her massive Little Miss Drama Tour, her first North American headlining arena run. The tour kicked off in February and concluded in Atlanta in April after more than 30 shows across the United States and Canada.
But clearly, Mrs. Bardi is not taking much of a break.
Next up, Cardi is heading to Jamaica, where she will headline BZR WKND at the National Stadium on Oct. 18. The performance is being billed as Cardi B’s first ever headlining stadium concert in the Caribbean and will serve as the grand finale of a weekend celebrating music, culture, fashion, food and entertainment.
Organizers expect more than 50,000 attendees throughout BZR WKND, which kicks off Oct. 16 with a welcome party, followed by the TIDAL RAVE Beach Party on Oct. 17 before Cardi B & Friends takes over the stadium Sunday night. International and Caribbean artists across hip hop, R&B, dancehall and reggae are also expected to join the festivities.
And Cardi has some fresh music to bring along. The mom of four recently dropped “AH HA,” and the numbers are already going up.
According to Forbes, the single debuted across 12 Billboard charts, including No. 2 on Digital Song Sales. “AH HA” becomes Cardi’s twenty-sixth top 10 on the sales ranking and her fifth track to peak at No. 2.
The song also debuted at No. 3 on Hot Rap Songs, R&B/Hip Hop Streaming Songs and Rap Streaming Songs, while landing at No. 5 on Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs and No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.
