Druski is getting high praise from a fellow comedian who said the parody prince “retired him” with his BET Awards hosting duties.
As previously reported, the comedian and internet star hosted the 2026 show at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, stepping into a role once held by legends such as Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, Mo’Nique, Queen Latifah, and Kevin Hart.
It was a major full-circle moment for Druski, who became the youngest host in BET Awards history.
Throughout the night, Druski leaned into the kind of humor that made him famous online. He joked about keeping acceptance speeches short, introduced the saxophone “wrap it up” bit, played off the room, and tried to keep the show moving without letting the energy dip too much. One of the funniest moments came when Keke Palmer snatched the mic and joked that the hosting gig should have been hers before smoothly introducing Cardi B’s performance.
The biggest compliment of the night may have come from Chris Rock. According to Complex, Rock told Druski he was the “best host ever,” which is the kind of co-sign you do not just brush off when you are a comedian hosting one of black culture’s biggest award shows.
“Hey incredible. Best host ever. You officially retired me. Hats off your the best,” read the message from the famed comedian who hosted in 20234.
Of course, the night was not without controversy. The saxophone bit became one of the most talked-about moments after SZA and Doechii were played off during their BET Her Award acceptance speech for “girl, get up.” Doechii still managed to keep talking through the moment, but TDE president Punch was clearly not feeling it and called out Druski online.
TMZ later reported that Druski was not actually responsible for that specific decision. According to the outlet, the saxophone cue was a production call meant to keep the broadcast on schedule, and Druski was reportedly backstage changing clothes when it happened.
Still, that did not stop the reactions from rolling in. Some fans thought Druski handled the pressure well and brought a younger, internet-era energy to the BET stage. Others felt like Keke Palmer stole the show in just a few seconds and should be next in line to host. A few people were more critical, arguing that Druski’s comedy works better in skits than in a live award-show setting.
Either way, Druski got people talking, which is half the battle with an awards show host. He had Chris Rock giving him flowers, fans debating his live comedy chops, Punch calling out the saxophone moment, and BET viewers arguing over whether he should run it back. For a first-time BET Awards host, that is a pretty eventful night at work.
