Americans can’t afford rent, groceries, and gas prices keep rising, and Donald Trump’s plan to address those issues is giving you a “gold” coin no one asked for.
The U.S. Mint unfortunately began selling the new $1 coin with Orange Mussolini’s ugly mug on it on Wednesday, and the internet didn’t waste any time clowning it.
According to Raw Story’s reporting, the stupid coin “sells in 25-coin rolls for $61 and 100-coin bags for $154.50 as part of the Mint’s series marking America’s 250th birthday.”
The Mint also announced that the coin is in circulation and is telling Americans to “check your pocket change,” because you can unfortunately be given one while you’re out shopping somewhere.
But with anything this inept administration does, the coin’s rollout isn’t without glaring issues, including mind-boggling numbers on the coin’s sale and some interesting design choices.
The Bulwark’s Sam Stein hilariously pointed out in a post, “Deal of the century right here, folks. You can purchase 25 $1 Trump coins for the price of…. $61.”
In a very keen observation, The Bulwark’s Catherine Rampell touched on the “1776 ~ 2026” on the coin, adding, “I like that this design appears to show the birth date of liberty as 1776, and its death as 2026.”
Lol, bruh.
Rep. Ted Lieu used the moment to show just how unserious this administration is about actually dealing with issues that are making Americans’ lives absolutely miserable.
“[T]rump and Republicans have mismanaged the American economy,” Lieu wrote while making sure to highlight gas prices and what we are paying at the grocery store. “So what are trump and Republicans focused on? See below. November is coming.”
You can also add this to the U.S. passport with Donald Trump in it that NO ONE ASKED FOR.
The grift never ends.
