Just last month, Lil Durk was found not guilty of putting out a hit on rival rapper Quando Rondo, but unfortunately the Chicago rapper remains behind bars as he awaits a second racketeering trial to get underway.

Lil Durk has since filed a motion to grant him bail, and while things aren’t exactly looking good at the moment for the “All My Life” rapper, Billboard is reporting that both Jay-Z and J. Cole have submitted letters of support for the motion to the federal judge overseeing the case in hopes of swaying the pendulum in Durk’s favor. While this may be a long shot, the judge may not even be a fan of rap; for all we know, it still shows that Lil Durk has some heavy hitters in his corner when he needs them.

Per Billboard:

In his letter, Jay-Z says he found Durk to be “kind, respectful and focused on his career” when they met several years earlier. “What stood out most to me was how he used his success,” writes Jay-Z. “Durk was signing young artists from his community to recording contracts and giving them a real path into a legitimate industry. Many of us come from neighborhoods where the options are limited, and the risks are high. Durk understood that, and he worked to help others find a way out of those conditions rather than leaving them behind.”

“Release would allow [Durk] to support his family and continue the work in his community that I saw firsthand,” adds Jay-Z.

J. Cole’s Message To Judge Vouched For Lil Durk’s Messaging In His Music

Cole, on the other hand, leaned into Durk’s message in his music, pointing to growth and maturity regardless of background or history.

“It speaks to the vision of Durk to mature and realize the impact his art could have, and then to be willing to fight for the chance to make that impact a positive one, even if it meant going against the instincts of an artist he respects and looks up to,” writes J. Cole.

Lil Durk was already denied bail once because the court labeled him a flight risk. Hoping to get their client out on bail before the start of trial, Durk’s defense lawyers, Brian Steel and Drew Findling, informed the court that Durk was willing to offer a bond package which promised that the rapper would forfeit any future earnings and would be willing to leave his family “penniless” should he violate his bond and go on the lam.

Whether any of these things will sway the judge to grant him bail remains to be seen, but we’ll find out November 4th when the hearing for Durk’s bond gets underway.

Do y’all think JAŸ and J. Cole will help or hurt Durk’s bond hearing? Does Durk offering his piggy bank hold more weight than the co-signs from his fellow rap peers? Let us know your thoughts and peep some reactions below.
