On Nov. 6, K. Michelle brought her debut country album Jesus & Whiskey to the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville and she had the support of her Real Housewives of Atlanta castmates…except for Shamea Morton.
Needless to say, K. Michelle is in her full promotion bag for Jesus & Whiskey and she’s taking it to the South from which she hails to make it all come together. She has the support of familiar reality TV faces like Phaedra Parks, Porsha Williams and Kelli Potter but it was the absence of her castmate, Shamea Morton, that brought her to the internet, once again.
It’s been well documented that Morton and K. Michelle have not become the best of friends since the latter joined the cast of the popular reality series. K. Michelle has accused Shamea of playing both sides and succumbing to pressure to not be friends with her from former cast member Kandi Burruss as well as Toya Johnson and rapper Rasheeda; however, Morton has said she’d be open to developing a relationship with the “Can’t Raise A Man” singer.
But it seems like that relationship isn’t likely to happen with K. Michelle clearly feeling that Morton should have come to support her in Nashville instead of hitting the Chris Brown and Usher tour to support Kandi’s appearance alongside her Xscape group members. She posted a single word in response to Morton’s loyalty to her other friend group saying, “Booooooo” on X.
Nonetheless, the excitement around Jesus & Whiskey has been building for years as many fans have been waiting for K. Michelle to dig into her country roots. Her performance alongside Jelly Roll at the 2023 Country Music Awards whetted appetites but delays in a full project made many worry that the day may never come that she’d make a full length country project. However, Jesus & Whiskey was released on Oct. 16.
