We can already hear shoes being kicked off during family viewings of Tyler Perry’s The Gospel Of Christmas starring Durrell “Tank” Babbs and Fantasia Barrino Taylor as husband and wife, along with a powerhouse ensemble of beloved Gospel legends in the buzzy film that’s sure to have Black households in a chokehold this holiday season.
In Tyler Perry’s The Gospel of Christmas, a struggling pastor named Isaac (Tank) inherits his family’s church in a broken New York neighborhood where he battles doubt, temptation, and a sinister adversary on his path to rediscovering his faith and the power of prayer to save his church, his family, and his community.

Written, directed and co-produced by Perry with music production by Kirk Franklin, The Gospel Of Christmas also stars Chanté Moore, John Gray, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Smokie Norful, Jekalyn Carr, The Legendary Clark Sisters (Twinkie Clark-Terrell, Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and Jacky Clark-Chisholm), Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Ann Nesby, Le’Andria Johnson, Hezekiah Walker, and more, with CeCe Winans and Shirley Caesar.
“The thing that makes this holiday movie special is that we get back to the reason,” said Tank in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. “We always center Christmas around gifts, but we often forget about the gift. This story of restoration gets us all back to the source. Giving God his just due while sharing with others makes this movie top tier.”
