N.O.R.E. nearly returned to his”Superthug” era, confronting viral food reviewer Sober Facts over his use of the N-word as he was recording live over the weekend, upset over a recent video Sober Facts made during the exchange.
The creator of the popular Drink Champs podcast ran up on Sober Facts, also known as Jason Rodriguez, while the latter was filming a food review in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan. “He thought I was a dude he ain’t gon’ see, but now I run up on him,” N.O.R.E. said, speaking to Sober Facts and into the camera.
Sober Facts tried to defuse the situation, stating he was just trying to be a bigger content creator, but was shut down. “Yeah, you was cryin’ some other s—t before, but you’re cryin’ some other s—t now,” N.O.R.E. responded, telling his audience that he could’ve “did him filthy”, but stated that he intended to keep it positive.
The conflict between the two began in June, when Sober Facts revealed that N.O.R.E. had asked him to stop using the N-word in his videos. N.O.R.E. is of African and Puerto Rican descent. Sober Facts, who claimed his name after swearing off alcohol and narcotics, declined to stop using the word. He then shot a video outside of N.O.R.E.’s old apartment building in Lefrak City, Queens and challenged the “Banned From TV” rapper over his drug and alcohol use.
“None of us should say n***a. Not Dominicans, not Puerto Ricans… none of us, not even Black people… so please stop your shit before we stop your shit,” N.O.R.E. said to Sober Facts, ending the clip.
Sober Facts, however, came back later with a video blasting N.O.R.E. and accusing those with him of being drunk and high. “I dare anybody that was there to pass a drug test… nobody in NYC gonna stop saying it, it’s part of the culture… you too old to be ‘I beat people up’ at this age, come on,” he said.
He would later delete the video, and write on Instagram, “Shout out to N.O.R.E. I’m just a young sober guy speaking the facts and trying to make it.” Those who saw the video online did applaud N.O.R.E. for showing restraint, and remarked how Sober Facts was lucky that he met this version of N.O.R.E.
