‘Senate Island USA’ Guide Takes Voting To The Villa For Midterms

With the 2026 midterm elections approaching Tuesday, Nov. 3, one Chicago woman is bringing a little Love Island USA energy to the ballot box, transforming Senate candidates into “islanders” and political education into an interactive experience designed to get Gen Z voters interested in the issues before making their selections.

According to WAPT, Anweih Cox created Senate Island USA, a website inspired by the popular reality dating competition, to make learning about political candidates more entertaining and accessible to younger generations.

Rather than asking visitors to find their perfect romantic match, the platform encourages them to explore political compatibility, compare candidates and ultimately decide who deserves their vote.

Anweih Cox Turns Reality TV Popularity Into Political Inspiration

According to WAPT, Cox developed the idea after noticing the massive engagement surrounding the Love Island USA mobile app, which reportedly attracted millions of users and experienced crashes amid overwhelming participation.

“I made a website called Senate Island,” Cox announced in a TikTok video.

“I wanted to create a more fun and playful voting resource for Gen Z to kind of inspire them to learn more about the candidates,” she explained.

For Cox, the inspiration came from comparing the enthusiasm surrounding reality television with participation in elections.

“I was seeing reports of millions of people being on the ‘Love Island’ app, and it was crashing the app,” Cox said. “And I’m like, you hear about the numbers of Gen Z and people voting just in general elections, [and it] just doesn’t compare.”

That observation became the foundation for Senate Island USA, which borrows familiar terminology from the dating series to introduce visitors to candidates seeking Senate seats.

According to WAPT, the website features candidate profiles, interactive polls and an election countdown, allowing visitors to explore political issues before Election Day.

The outlet also reported that Mississippi candidates Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, Scott Collom and Ty Pinkins are among those featured on the platform.

Cox demonstrated the experience in another TikTok video, encouraging visitors to select their state, enter their designated villa and meet the candidates competing for their attention.

“It has the countdown to the recoupling, you can vote on a daily poll, and you go and meet the islanders,” she explained. “Here is where you can see all the islanders seeking reelection, all of their answers on the most pressing issues.”

Beyond the playful presentation, Cox emphasized the importance of making political information easier for different audiences to understand.

“Just making that into a more digestible is important, and that’s all that matters, and I was happy I was able to accomplish that,” she told WAPT.

Inside Georgia’s Senate Island Villa

A firsthand walkthrough of Senate Island USA reveals how Cox has transformed the traditional voter information experience into a reality television-inspired political adventure.

Upon entering the website, visitors are greeted by an ocean-blue background and four instructions: “Enter the Villa,” “Meet the Islanders,” “Explore Connections” and “Couple Up.”

A bright pink button invites users to “Choose Your Villa,” allowing them to select the state where they plan to vote.

For Georgia visitors, the experience opens with a tropical beach setting welcoming users to “Villa Georgia,” complete with palm trees, a countdown to Election Day and a daily interactive poll.

One question asks, “What’s your plan to get to the polls?” Visitors can choose between bringing their entire friend group, voting solo, having already voted or still figuring out their plans.

In the results displayed during BOSSIP’s walkthrough, 56% of respondents selected “Solo date, me time,” while 16% planned to bring friends, another 16% reported already voting and 12% were still deciding.

Another poll asked visitors to identify their most pressing issue. Affordable housing led the displayed results with 42%, followed by health care at 27%, artificial intelligence at 19% and gas prices at 12%.

The website does not display the number of respondents, meaning the results should not be interpreted as representative of Georgia voters.

Casa Amor, Political Compatibility And The Ultimate Recoupling

Things get particularly interesting once visitors select the “Meet the Islanders” option.

In Georgia’s villa, Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff and Republican Mike Collins appear as contestants through AI-generated character portraits, complete with casual outfits and dating-show-style profile cards.

Visitors can explore the candidates individually or select “Explore Your Connections” to enter Casa Amor, where political compatibility takes center stage.

The comparison feature allows users to examine candidates’ positions on education, health care, housing, artificial intelligence and the cost of living.

Under education, for example, Ossoff’s profile references Pell Grants, the bipartisan JOBS Act and funding for technical colleges, universities and historically Black colleges and universities.

Collins’ profile highlights alternative educational pathways, including skilled trades, certification programs and the use of 529 savings for career training.

Importantly, the website clarifies that its first-person policy descriptions are playful interpretations of candidates’ public positions rather than their actual statements.

After exploring the issues, visitors can proceed to “The Recoupling,” where they are asked, “Who do you want to couple up with?”

Users can select their preferred candidate, explore other states or share the experience. The selection is part of the website’s interactive format and does not constitute an official vote.

Senate Island USA also includes disclaimers explaining that its AI-generated candidate portraits are not realistic depictions and that the parody website is not affiliated with Love Island, ITV or any political campaign.

As Election Day approaches, Cox’s creation offers an unconventional approach to voter education by combining pop culture, political information and digital participation.

Whether visitors arrive for the reality television references or to research their next senator, the platform encourages them to get acquainted with the issues before heading to the polls.
