We live in a society where the impulse to commemorate a moment, a person, a feeling or an entire aesthetic vision permanently on your body apparently hits hardest at the worst possible times. And celebrities, who have access to the best tattoo artists in the world and presumably at least one person in their life willing to say “maybe not,” continue to make decisions with permanent ink that the rest of us have to look at forever.

The OG of the list and perhaps the most legendary bad tattoo in rap history. As Revoltdocumented, Gucci Mane got a three-scoop ice cream cone with a lightning bolt on his face and the internet has never recovered. He has since leaned fully into it as part of his brand, which is either the most unbothered response imaginable or the most effective reframe in tattoo history.
Lil Wayne — Arabic Script
Wayne has been tattooing his face since before face tattoos were a mainstream conversation and the results have been mixed at best.
