LUCKI’s appearance at ComplexCon took a troubling turn after the Chicago rapper was reportedly injured during an altercation outside the Los Angeles event.
According to HotNewHipHop, citing TMZ, the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident as attempted murder. The confrontation happened Saturday, October 3. The publication reported that LUCKI was taking photos with fans when an unidentified person allegedly struck him in the face, causing a laceration. The outlet also described footage showing the rapper returning to a vehicle with a visible wound near his face and neck.
PEOPLE obtained a statement from LAPD confirming that officers responded to a fight in the area around 4:45 p.m. local time. Police said four people had injuries “consistent with stab wounds or lacerations.” Two were taken to a hospital, a third sought hospital treatment independently, and a fourth declined medical attention at the scene. The police statement cited by PEOPLE did not identify those individuals by name.
Playboi Carti was also reportedly nearby when the incident unfolded. HotNewHipHop described footage showing him near a vehicle, watching the altercation. However, the available reporting does not establish that Carti participated in the violence or directed anyone to attack LUCKI, and authorities had not publicly identified any suspects.
Claims about the involvement of the rappers’ entourages have circulated, but those accounts remain unconfirmed. In its separate coverage of ComplexCon’s response, HotNewHipHop noted that neither law enforcement nor either artist’s camp had officially confirmed claims assigning responsibility to Carti or his associates.
ComplexCon addressed the incident in a statement, saying its security team and LAPD responded immediately. Organizers told PEOPLE that the confrontation happened on a public street outside the event. “The safety and security of our guests, talent, partners and staff is our highest priority,” the organizers said. The statement added that the event takes incidents of this nature seriously and remains focused on maintaining a safe environment for attendees. It did not identify an alleged attacker or explain what prompted the confrontation.
Although some coverage has described LUCKI’s injury as a stabbing, authorities have not confirmed the exact nature of his wound. The precise circumstances of his injury remain unresolved. In reports published through Monday, October 5, no arrests had been announced and no suspects had been publicly identified. The investigation remains ongoing, with the cause of the confrontation and responsibility for the injuries still unresolved.
