Republicans don’t hide the fact that they love to make the lives of Black people absolutely miserable, but they sure as hell love our contributions to entertainment.
GOP Sen. Marsha Blackburn, who is currently running for Governor of Tennessee, is being swamped with well-deserved backlash after she shared AI-generated slop featuring herself as Kendrick Lamar performing his iconic Drake diss, “Not Like Us,” flanked by Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), state Sen. Brent Taylor, and Glenn Thomas Jacobs, the former WWE wrestler known as Kane.
What makes this even more ridiculous is that Republicans were big mad about Lamar’s very politically charged performance, calling it “Satanic,” “absolute trash,” and other ridiculous statements because the Compton native dared to use the big stage to send a message.
Social Media Drags Marsha Blackburn
Social media wasted no time clowning Blackburn and calling her out for using Lamar’s moment, knowing she couldn’t care less about him or his message.
“DELETE THIS NOW! You don’t even like Black people,” one reply to Blackburn’s post read.
Another post read, “Colonizers make me sick. They hate Black culture but then wanna use to seem cool. Go to hell nest head.”
“This woman out here exploiting Black culture to run for governor in a state that passed a map eliminating the only majority Black district and weaken Black residents voting power. Fucking disgusting,” another user said.
Blackburn’s blatant misuse of Lamar’s moment is on par with MAGA Republicans’ behavior regarding pop culture. Donald Trump and his current administration are absolutely notorious for doing the same, using popular songs, video games, and other media, knowing the people involved don’t want anything to do with him.
We truly hope Blackburn gets her butt handed to her in the upcoming election.
