Megan Thee Stallion is opening up about her split from Klay Thompson and getting real about what she learned from the relationship.
The rapper addressed her recent breakup with the NBA star in a new cover story for InStyle, where she reflected on a difficult period in her personal life, finding herself again, and the relationship standards she refuses to compromise on.
“It was very rough,” Megan told the outlet. “What’s meant for you is always going to work out. And if something is constantly making you feel uncomfortable, just on edge all the time, you probably are not supposed to be there.”
Megan went on to say that she believes God has a way of making you uncomfortable when you’re somewhere you’re not supposed to be.
“I think I just kept trying to make pieces fit that didn’t belong, trying to fit myself into someone else’s life,” she continued. “I was losing myself a little bit. I am now in the space of finding me again.”
For the Houston native, being in a relationship doesn’t mean putting her career, personality or independence on the back burner.
“I cannot be disrespected. I cannot be a person who is not gonna be me. I cannot not go to work,” she said. “I’m going to be Megan Thee Stallion… You will not disrespect me. And you will be thankful. Period.”

She also kept it very real about how she’s been feeling while navigating everything post-split.
“I’m trying my best,” Megan said. “I feel like I’ve been put through the washing machine and the dryer with tins, shovels, and a cactus.”
She also made it clear that she knows exactly what she needs from a partner moving forward.
“Trust, fidelity, and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward,” Meg said.
The rapper explained that she’s never going to be the type to shrink herself to make a relationship work.
“I love being me. I love rapping. I love interacting with my fans. I love shooting music videos,” Megan said. “I’m not a person who is in the house 24-7. I’m never going to be that.”
“She’s her own person. She’s her own boss. I cannot be minimized. I will not be behind any man,” she continued. “I will have a partner. I will be equals with my partner. I’m never gonna take the backseat to anything.”
The Houston hottie said the experience has helped her get much clearer about what she will and won’t accept in a relationship.
“So just going forward, I think I’ve just learned this is the type of person that I want to be with, this is what I will tolerate, this is what I won’t tolerate,” she explained. “And if you can’t take that, we just gotta respectfully go our separate ways.”

The Grammy winner also shared an important reminder for anyone who’s been hurt by infidelity.
“People cheating on you, that doesn’t have anything to do with you,” she said. “You’re not less attractive. You’re not less of a good person.”
Megan acknowledged that cheating can still leave you questioning yourself and wondering what you did wrong.
“Even though it might feel like that. Oh my gosh, why me? Why am I not enough?” she said. “Cause it could definitely feel like, ‘Why am I not enough?’”
