Muni Long is not just having a moment. She’s building a whole legacy. The Grammy-winning R&B star sat down with Incognito and DJ Misses for a real one, covering everything from her grind behind the scenes, to love, to why owning your stuff is non-negotiable. If you slept on this interview, here’s your recap.
She Was Writing Hits Before You Even Knew Her Name
Before “Muni Long” was on everybody’s lips, she was Priscilla Renea, one of the most in-demand songwriters in the game. We’re talking Rihanna’s “California King Bed,” records with Mariah Carey, Fifth Harmony, and more. She spent years making other artists shine while waiting on her own shot. In the interview, she kept it honest about those behind-the-scenes years and what that grind really taught her about the industry and herself.
“Hrs and Hrs” Didn’t Just Go Viral. It Went Cultural
Late 2021 changed everything. Muni dropped “Hrs and Hrs” independently, and TikTok ran with it. The song became the soundtrack to proposals, weddings, and anniversary posts across the internet. By 2023, it locked in a Grammy for Best R&B Performance, and the rest is history. She talked about what it felt like to watch a song she bet on herself blow up the way it did. That kind of faith in your own work? That’s the blueprint.
Owning Her Lane. Literally.
This is the part every young creative needs to hear. Muni built her come-up through her own label, Supergiant Records, before linking with Def Jam. She was not waiting for the industry to hand her anything. In the conversation, she broke down why ownership is everything. Not just for the bag, but for your peace and your power. For a generation of Black artists done with giving their work away, Muni’s approach is the move.

Love Is Her Art
Muni’s music hits different because it comes from a real place. She’s married to Raysean Hairston, and that love shows up all through her catalog. Tracks like “Made for Me” are not just cute. They’re a whole vibe for anyone who believes in real, committed love. The hosts got into how her relationship fuels her writing and how she keeps it all balanced. She made it clear: she’s not performing love, she’s living it.
She Knows the Industry Is Hard, and She Is Still Standing
Before the Grammy, before the viral moment, there were years of doors not opening. Muni was honest about being overlooked as a solo artist for way too long. She spoke on the grind of surviving in a streaming era where R&B does not always get its flowers, and why she’s committed to keeping the soul of the genre alive. Her story is proof that timing, talent, and tenacity will always win.
From ghostwriting for the biggest names to holding her own Grammy, Muni has earned every bit of her moment. Tag a friend who needs to watch this, and go stream her catalog if you haven’t already. You’re welcome.
