Soulja Boy has spent years reminding everybody he did it first. Now Big Draco is eyeing a title that would give him a new level of bragging rights: President of the United States.
As TMZ reported, the rapper teased a possible 2028 White House run with an Instagram post shared Saturday, October 10. Posing in front of an American flag, Soulja used the post to introduce the idea of taking his ambitions into public service. According to iHeart, the rapper laid out four areas he wants to focus on: economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and artificial intelligence. He also framed the move around creating opportunities for the next generation, connecting his proposed political pivot to his work across music, business, and tech.
“From music to business to technology, I’ve always believed in thinking bigger and challenging what’s possible,” he wrote. Soulja said he was exploring how to bring that approach into public service, closing his message with, “The future starts with a conversation.”
For now, though, Big Draco’s political ambitions are still in the idea stage. As HOT 97 noted, he has not announced an official campaign or party affiliation, and his post offered few details about the policies behind those four priorities. The idea also comes with some recent history. In January 2025, Soulja joined Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross for the Crypto Ball in Washington, D.C., an event celebrating Donald Trump’s return to the White House. The performances drew criticism, and Soulja responded by making it clear that the payday was a major reason he accepted the booking.
HotNewHipHop reported that Soulja defended the appearance on Instagram Live, saying, “They paid me a bag.” He also said Trump had not attended the event and insisted he would perform there again, doubling down despite the backlash. There’s an older comedy connection, too. As Pitchfork reported at the time, Chris Redd portrayed Soulja during a January 2019 Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” segment in which the fictional version of the rapper announced a presidential run for 2020. The bit covered the government shutdown and Soulja’s video game console, making the latest announcement a callback even SNL’s writers might appreciate.
Of course, Soulja would not be the first rapper to try turning fame into a presidential campaign. Kanye West launched a bid in 2020 and ultimately conceded. That gives Big Draco a real example of another rap star pursuing the office, although Soulja has yet to explain how his own potential campaign would take shape.
For now, “Soulja Boy 2028” is a social media pitch with plenty of questions attached. We’ll see whether Big Draco starts building a campaign or leaves this one in the caption.
