Founders of Gabby Bows being presented $200 grand prize by TD Jakes

Nationwide — 18-year-old Gabby Goodwin and her mom, Rozalynn, the founders of Confidence by GaBBY Goodwin, a trailblazing, Black-owned hair accessory brand, have won the $200,000 grand prize at the prestigious Good Soil Capital Pitch Competition, sponsored by Wells Fargo. The award was presented to them by Bishop T.D. Jakes.

The win marks a powerful milestone for the brand that started at their kitchen table when Gabby was just seven years old. Tired of barrettes constantly slipping out of her hair, Gabby teamed up with her mom to create GaBBY Bows—the first and only patented, non-slip barrette on the market. Since launching in 2014, the duo has sold more than one million barrettes to families across all 50 states and 16 countries—and they’re just getting started.

“This moment means the world to us,” said Gabby Goodwin, CEO and co-founder. “It’s not just an investment in our business—it’s a belief in our mission to build confidence, inspire young entrepreneurs, and create generational wealth in our community.”

The Good Soil Capital Pitch Competition shines a spotlight on faith-driven, impact-focused entrepreneurs poised to scale. Confidence by GaBBY Goodwin wowed judges with its patented innovation, rapid growth, and bold vision to empower the next generation, especially through its Mommy and Me Entrepreneurship Academy, which has already helped over 50 girls in 16 states start their own businesses.

“This $200,000 prize is fuel for our purpose,” added Rozalynn Goodwin, co-founder and COO. “It will help us expand production, grow our retail partnerships, and reach even more families and future CEOs across the globe.”

With the new funding, the Goodwins plan to enhance their manufacturing capacity, scale their online and in-store presence, and deepen the impact of their academy for girl entrepreneurs.
