Three months after Memphis producer Tay Keith’s untimely passing, the cause of death has been revealed.
According to the Nashville Medical Examiner’s Officer, Keith died from an alleged overdose. His autopsy found ketamine and multiple compounds associated with kratom, including mitragynine, in his system. The manner of death was ruled an accident.
The report also found nicotine and ethanol in Keith’s system, along with mild coronary artery disease. It remains unclear whether intentionally consumed kratom or how the compounds entered his system.
As more details surrounding Keith’s passing have emerged, his family and friends continue to mourn the loss of the influential producer.
“BryTavious was a visionary producer, songwriter, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and cultural force whose work helped define the sound of a generation. From Memphis to the global stage, he shaped countless hit records and left a lasting mark on music and culture.” Keith’s family said following his passing.
The Memphis hitmaker had an impressive discography, earning production credits on Drake’s “God’s Plan,” BlocBoy JB’s “Look Alive” and Travis Scott and Drake’s “SICKO MODE.” Throughout his career, he also worked with some of music’s biggest names, including Beyoncé, Eminem, Future, 21 Savage, and Lil Baby.
Keith’s influence on modern Hip-Hop stretched far beyond the records he produced, leaving behind a catalog that helped define the sound of a generation.
