Yung Miami: “I Remember Everybody That Had Something to Say”

  • Her hit ‘Spend It’ dominated summer and reached No. 1 despite industry skepticism.
  • Ownership through her label Supergiant Records gave her power before signing with Def Jam.
  • The album blends raw, personal storytelling with a Miami Vice aesthetic and Atlanta grit.

Yung Miami walked into Posted On The Corner looking like money and radiating nothing but good energy. Just days before dropping her debut solo album Watch This on Oct. 23, Caresha linked up with hosts DJ Misses and Incognito for a real one: part vibe session, part victory lap, all facts.

“Is it Friday yet?” she laughed. “I feel really good about my music.”

And honestly? The culture feels it too.

“Spend It” Ran the Summer and Then Hit No. 1

When Caresha last pulled up to the corner, “Spend It” had just dropped. By the time summer was over, that record had taken over everything: cookouts, reels, playlists, even somebody’s church collection. It went straight to No. 1, and Caresha got emotional when the call came in.

“Imagine people telling you no,” she said. “And God say, yeah.”

Say less. That’s the energy.

The Album Is Her Therapy and She Is Not Holding Back

DJ Misses told her listening to “FU” felt like reading her diary. Caresha didn’t even flinch. “I don’t be lying in my raps,” she said, and that’s exactly what makes Watch This hit different.

She warned fans straight up: “You might cry.” Because this project goes there. It’s real, it’s raw, and it’s hers.

The whole album rocks a Miami Vice aesthetic: vibrant colors, big hair, ’80s glam with a Miami twist. The standout track “2008” mixes that Atlanta grit with Miami soul. Producer J White built the beat, but Caresha knew it needed one finishing touch: DJ Drama. Watching him flip the switch from regular conversation to that legendary hype voice in the studio? She was shook. “How the [heck] you do that?” she said. But the moment he did it, she knew that was the missing piece.

She Remembers Every Hater. Every Single One

For years, people came for her pen, her voice, her spot in hip hop. They slept. Caresha didn’t forget. “I remember everybody that had something to say about me,” she said with that smile that says more than words ever could.

She wasn’t asking for people to stop having opinions, just to keep it respectful. “You could say you don’t like something, but why you got to be disrespectful with it?” Real talk.

As for protecting her peace through all the noise? “My peace is going to sleep.” Because rest is resistance, sis.

This is the part every young creative needs to hear. Muni built her come-up through her own label, Supergiant Records, before linking with Def Jam. She was not waiting for the industry to hand her anything. In the conversation, she broke down why ownership is everything. Not just for the bag, but for your peace and your power. For a generation of Black artists done with giving their work away, Muni’s approach is the move.

Mama Mode, HBCU Love, and the Road Ahead

Caresha’s whole face lit up talking about her kids. Her daughter Summer’s birthday? Same day the album drops. That’s a sign. When asked about a superpower she discovered on this journey, she kept it grounded: “I got a good heart.”

The solo tour is loading, and she’s especially hyped about hitting Clark Atlanta University. HBCU crowds go crazy, and she’s here for every second of it. “They be lit,” she said. She also kept it real with the young ones: stay in school, get the experience if you can, but college isn’t the only path to success. Her whole life is proof of that.

Before she bounced, Caresha left the people with something to hold onto: “Stay true to yourself. Whatever it is, go after it. The most important thing is to be happy.”
