We heard DSU has the BEST Homecoming on Earth!
We had to pull up at Delaware State University known for its gorgeous campus, dynamically diverse student body, Desean Jackson-lead football program, and infectious school pride that elevates the vibes at the storied institution’s Homecoming in the heart of Dover, Delaware.
Founded in 1891 as the State College for Colored Students, the 9th ranked HBCU in the nation (U.S. News & World Report) shines as one of the country’s first land-grant educational institutions.
In Fall 2025, the University’s student enrollment surged to a record 6,623 students–the largest number in the school’s 134-year history–who thrive on a beautiful 356-acre main campus with over 50 buildings and four outdoor athletic fields.
“This is the largest student body ever at Delaware State University and the largest class of incoming Delaware Inspire scholars since the creation of the program 15 years ago,” said Dr. Patrice Gilliam, Provost, Delaware State University.
“And most importantly, our students have come ready to do the demanding work needed to make a difference in their chosen field – from public health and commercial aviation to business and finance. Speaking for all the faculty and staff at Delaware State University, we stand ready to help all our students get across the finish line, get their education, and meet their fullest potential.”
According to the school’s official site, DSU’s record enrollment has been driven primarily by increased student demand in Delaware State University’s flagship programs on main campus and DSU Downtown, including health care, education, and business majors.
Additionally, the state-sponsored Inspire program–a fully funded state scholarship for Delaware students with a 2.75 GPA and commitment to public service–has helped make Delaware State University a top choice for in-state students.
Notable alumni include NFL All-Pro cornerback (and Kerry Washington’s husband) Nnamdi Asomugha, MLB Hall of Famer Willie Stargell, 3x Super Bowl champion John Taylor, The Breakfast Club co-host Loren Lorosa, and more.
