For Vogue’s October 2026 issue, Jordan opened up about his whirlwind work life, personal success, and what keeps him grinding.

During his interview, the Creed star looked back on getting his first Oscar along with his upcoming remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. Since he’s been working seemingly nonstop for years now, the actor said that after doing press for this film, he plans to take a serious step back.

“I’ll probably take the rest of next year off,” he told Vogue. “That’s probably when I’m going to do more reflecting and processing of all of this. Because honestly, it’s been — I’ve been moving.”

Later on in the interview, he even teased a career switch, adding, “I might just quit it all and make anime the rest of my life.”

For his double-duty acting in Sinners, Jordan took home the Oscar for Best Actor back in March, beating out Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, and Wagner Moura in the category. While the honor was something he’d dreamed of, The Black Panther actor explained that he got sick the day after the ceremony.

“Like, you reached the finish line, and your body said, ‘Alright, I got you here, time to shut down for a second,’” he recalled, saying that old friends visited from out of town to celebrate his victory. “They’re ordering food, talking, laughing about the night, telling stories, just reliving it all.”

The star also reflected on whether or not he could have been satisfied as a working actor instead of a leading man.

“I don’t know. My competitiveness…I don’t know,” he admitted. “I don’t think so. Whatever I wanted to do in life, I wanted to be competitive at, and I wanted to be mentioned amongst the greats.”

Jordan’s next movie The Thomas Crown Affair, which he directed, produced, and starred in. The story originated with the 1968 film starring Steve McQueen as a millionaire who orchestrates a bank robbery; The movie was remade in 1999 with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, updating the title character’s crime of choice to art heist rather than bank robbery .

While previous iterations of The Thomas Crown leads have acted out of sheer boredom, Jordan insists that his version of the character has a more righteous motivation.

“I don’t think a billionaire, or a millionaire, just doing s**t for fun, right now, is something that people want to see,” the actor said.

The Thomas Crown Affair hits theaters on March 5, 2027.
