J. Cole Reveals His Favorite Songs On ‘The Fall-Off’

J. Cole has revealed his favorite songs on his latest album The Fall-Off — and his picks might surprise you.

In the latest post on his personal blog The Algorithm, the Dreamville star gave fans an update on the whirlwind month since his eighth and final album was released, which has seen him travel from city to city in his old Honda Civic and greet fans on his Trunk Sale Tour.

“This post is just me checking in and saying thank you for all the love on the album. From the youtube videos I see, to the tik tok videos, ig and twitter posts that make it to me, it’s the best feeling in the world when I see people feel the same way I do about the music,” he wrote.

“It’s officially a month after The Fall-Off dropped, and I’m still over here playing it every day religiously as if I’m not the one that’s rapping on it.”

As for which specific tracks he has in heavy rotation, Cole named “The Let Out” — the rock-flavored, OutKast “SpottieOttieDopaliscious”-inspired club anthem that’s one of his most sonically adventurous songs to date — as his favorite.

He also highlighted “Poor Thang” and “I Love Her Again,” which pays homage to both “I Used To Love H.E.R.” and “The Light” by Common, as close contenders.

Looking ahead, J. Cole revealed that he’s planning a press run to promote The Fall-Off and will sit down for interviews with some of his favorite platforms, marking a U-turn from his usually media-shy approach.

“My intention was to drop the album and let it sit for at least a month before I did any interviews,” he shared. “I wanted to give people a chance to feel whatever emotions the music brought them, and formulate their own thoughts, ideas, opinions or interpretations before I came out and gave mine. I felt it would be best that way; more pure.

“Now, I feel like it’s a good time to step out of my comfort zone (home) and do some interviews. There’s a lot of platforms out there that I fuck with, both big and small, and I look forward to showing up, showing love while continuing to push this album that I gave so much to.”

The North Carolina native also expressed excitement for his upcoming The Fall-Off Tour, a massive 73-date international trek that covers four continents in five months between July 10 and December 12.

“I was exhausted after leaving L.A. on that last [Trunk Sale Tour] stop, it had me thinking about this tour coming up… 6 months long!! Sheeeeeeeeesh!! I’m excited though,” he wrote.

“We haven’t done an international tour run since 4 Your Eyez Only. Fatherhood made me not want to be away from the house for that long of a time, but for this album it’s a must that I thug it and hit the world up.”
