Future and Metro Boomin might be taking their chemistry from the studio to the streets of Vice City, with the frequent collaborators reportedly getting involved in Grand Theft Auto VI.
According to HotNewHipHop, both artists recently signaled their involvement in Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated release. What that involvement actually looks like remains unclear, however, as neither has detailed whether fans should expect music, an in-game appearance or something else entirely.
The outlet also reports that Travis Scott has teased his own connection to the game. That puts Future and Metro in a growing conversation about the hip-hop talent potentially helping soundtrack—and possibly populate—Rockstar’s next open-world crime saga. For now, though, calling either artist a confirmed playable character would be getting ahead of the available details.
Whatever their contributions turn out to be, Future and Metro have a catalog that makes the pairing easy to understand. Metro helped shape the dark, atmospheric sound of Future’s celebrated mixtape run, including production on “March Madness” and contributions to projects such as Monster and DS2. Their records have long sounded built for a late-night drive, even when the destination probably should have been home.
The duo took that partnership to another level in 2024 with We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You. The former housed “Like That,” their Kendrick Lamar collaboration that helped set off one of hip-hop’s most consequential recent rivalries. Across both projects, Future’s melodic delivery and Metro’s production reinforced just how much musical ground they can cover together.
Grand Theft Auto has its own deep relationship with hip-hop. San Andreas featured a West Coast-heavy Radio Los Santos alongside the classic rap selections of Playback FM, while GTA V expanded the franchise’s musical reach through stations including West Coast Classics. Dr. Dre later became central to GTA Online’s The Contract, demonstrating how an artist’s involvement can extend beyond a song on the radio.
That history leaves plenty of possibilities for Pluto and Young Metro.
